ITEM 6 BOB

Bob strolled along beside Dave. Suddenly there was a bark and a flash of white and Bob was gone, racing across the road. Before Dave fully realized what was happening there was a screech of brakes and a dull thud. 

  • What is bob?
    1. Dave’s dog

  • What happened to Bob?
    1. Since Bob was running across the road and there was a dull thud Bob was most likely hit by a car.

 

ITEM 7 THE PARADE

The children craned their necks and looked eagerly into the distance. When they heard the first sounds of the band they knew that, at last, the Santa parade was not far away and coming closer. A small boy at the front seemed not to notice. Eventually his friends tugged on his shirt and pointed in the direction of the approaching parade. As he turned, his eyes lit up.

  • Why was the boy taking no notice to start with?
    1. I’m not sure, but I think the boy may have been looking in another direction, zoning out, short or possibly just deaf.

  • How did the boy know the parade was coming? 
    1. His friends tugged his shirt and pointed in the direction of the approaching parade.

 

ITEM 8 PHONE CALL

I was out in the garden with Han when the phone rang. She quickly ran in and picked it up. “Hello,” she said breathlessly. Then, “No, it is not. You have the … Huh! Some people.” She came back outside/ 

“Another order for Chinese takeaways,” she muttered.

 

  1. Why was she breathless?
    1. Because she quickly ran to take the call.

 

  1. Who was calling?

 

  1. Chinese takeaways

 

  1. Why did she say another?

 

  1. Because it has happened a few times and it is happening once again.
