My Inference Task P1 By Liana

Task Description: The students at Team TUI are presently investigating the idea of inferencing in reading, which involves drawing a conclusion based on evidence and logical reasoning. This is a reasonable skill that helps readers to comprehend and interpret the text more efficiently. Here is one of my inderence tasks.

ITEM 1 NEW LEADER

They snarled and showed their teeth as they approached each other. There was no turning back for either of them; this would decide which one would lead the pack.

  • What are they?
  • Wolves

    1. How were they going to decide who would be the leader of the pack?
  • The strongest of all the wolves is going to be the leader.

ITEM 2 GLINT IN THE WATER

There was a glint in the water. The bird stalled. Then, with flattened wings, it dived fifty metres into the sea.

  •  What was the glint in the water?
  • Most likely a fish

ITEM 3 RAIN DANCE

The heat was intense. It had been like this for months. When the rain finally arrived they went outside and danced in it.

    1. Why did they dance in the rain?
  • Because for the past few months it has been boiling and now there is finally rain.

ITEM 4 THE ROCK

A rock lay on the carpet. Glass was everywhere.

    1. What had  happened?
  • Somebody threw a rock at the window

ITEM 5 THE RIDER

Riding bareback at full gallop was frightening for a young, inexperienced rider like me. When we got to the river the horse immediately stopped. I didn’t.

    1.  What happened to the rider?
  • I’m not sure, but I think the rider fell off the horse
