Matariki Festival Reflection

Task Description: The Matariki Festival was a blast! I really enjoyed viewing other peoples creative art work. I also really liked the festival because my Harakeke flowers were set on deplay above Maia and my table. I spend a really long time working on those flowers and they got set up for everyone to see! Overall I really enjoyed the festival and would totally do it again!

Thats my reflection :))

Matariki Festival By Liana

Task Description: Yesterday was the Matariki Festival. We had stalls, food trucks, preformances and more! What I enjoyed the most was probaly exploring the diffrernt stalls and seeing what they have to offer, what I thought we could do next time was probaly maybe we could’ve sold some things to make some money. Either way I enjoyed the festival and it was a very fun expericence!

Persuasive Writitng By Liana

Task Description: Yesterday Rm 12 did some Persuasive Writing. Persuasive basically means trying to make someone do something or trying to convince them. I put some thought into it and I decided to write about why we should have seperate schools for sport. Do you agree or disagree with my statment?

Persuasive Writing  06.09.23

Why we should have separate schools where we only learn sport.

(So we don’t have to play sports in ordinary schools)

Firstly, in my opinion I think it is better to be good at sports rather than academics because if you think about it athletes get paid about 362K – 680K per season and the highest paying academic job

(which is a Family Medicine Residency Program Director)

Gets paid about 220K – 307.5K yearly.

Secondly, not only is an athlete higher paid but it is also a fun job and a way to keep fit. I mean, your basically getting paid for playing sports. You also don’t have to worry about being unfit because it is your job to stay fit for sports (obviously).

Last but not least, sports also helps you organize your time, boosts your friendships with your teammates and helps you build good relationships with your peers and adults Another reason is cause sports could help with real life situations like for instance a kidnapper approaches you you could easily beat them up because you are good at taekwondo which also counts as a sport.

In conclusion I think that it is important to be good at sports and something that is a good thing to do in your free time rather than laying in bed all day.

(which I do unfortunately)

My Figurative Launguage Writing By Liana

Task Description: For these past couple of days for writing team tui (I think) have been including figurative launguage in stories and recounts. I have recently finished writing a story called “Missing.” This story includes figurative launguage and a slight bit of horror. Enjoy reading!

                                                                                                                Missing

There was once a boy named Jerry. One evening Jerry was walking back home, when he felt this cold aura so cold it felt as if  he were in the freezer. Jerry ignored this cold tingly feeling thinking that it might just be cold outside but little did he know that it wasn’t the weather that was tingling him. It was something that goes beyond your wildest imagination.  He ran home faster than a cheetah, scared if someone or something was behind  him… Finally Jerry reached home with his face as red as a tomato.

“What’s wrong?” Jerry’s mum asked, “nothing… Anyways, what’s for dinner?” Jerry asked. “My special cheesy macaroni”, said mum. “MACARONI!! YUM!” exclaimed Jerry. He bounced like a rabbit towards the kitchen, grabbed a plate and got a BIG scoop of macaroni. He opened his mouth wide and took a bite, it was delicious!! It felt as if he was in heaven. The cheese slowly melted in his mouth giving a euphoric feeling to his taste buds. “I could eat this every single day!” “Haha yes I know, I know” mum replied,

“Anyways I have to go out for my night shift so I might be a little late” mum explained, sadly Jerry sighed “Ok then… Bye.” “Bye sweetie” muttered mum, giving Jerry a ‘I’m sorry’ kind of look, and with that, she left. Jerry continued eating his macaroni when suddenly he heard a voice… “Come here” the voice whispered. Jerry froze… He was as still as a statue “WHO’S THERE” Jerry  yelled. It was silent for a couple of seconds when he felt a hand slither across his shoulder making a way to his neck gripping it tightly almost enough to choke him, Jerry froze. He felt shivers running down his spine, He swiftly turned his body around to be faced with a cloud of darkness, what was that? Am I going mad? He stood there shocked by the events that had just occurred in that short amount of time.

While he was standing there in disbelief he heard a sudden knock “KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK” Jerry felt his soul leave his body “Jerry it’s just me” mum said in a soft voice. Oh, he thought, he walked towards the door and was going to open the door but then.. He stopped… Something didn’t feel right… “Sweetie what’s wrong? Why aren’t you opening the door” mum said in a sweet voice “Come on, open the door now” Why did she sound so desperate?… my mind was telling me not to open the door but my body moved quicker than expected, my hand made its way to the doorknob slowly twisting it open, the door creaked open as I was met with nothing. I was just about to close the door as a hand dragged me from the door to a place…

2 years later

“This is your baby brother! Isn’t he cute! He said his first words today…it was big brother…he is so smart isn’t he! It reminds me of you…sadly you went missing 2 years ago. “

The end
